John Johnson was admitted to the Queen’s University Faculty of Law in 1989, after two years of undergraduate studies. He graduated from Queen’s in 1992 with an LL.B. degree and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1994. Since then, John has acted almost exclusively on behalf of injured Ontarians and their families. He has represented clients in Financial Services Commission of Ontario Dispute Resolution arbitrations and in Licence Appeal Tribunal matters. He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, Divisional Court, and Court of Appeal.

A longstanding member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, John was instrumental in founding OTLA’s first student chapter while he was attending Queen’s University and was the founding chair of OTLA’s New Lawyers Division. John has served as Secretary and Vice-President of OTLA, Chair of OTLA’s Bad Faith Insurance Section, and Editor of OTLA’s journal, The Litigator. He is a recipient of OTLA’s Distinguished Service Award. He has spoken at numerous continuing legal education programs and has made several media appearances. 

At Verkhovets Law, John handles tort claims arising from motor vehicle collisions, falls, and dog bites, along with long-term disability claims. He brings to the firm over thirty years of experience, along with a client-focused, practical, and efficient approach to getting the best possible result for his clients in the least possible amount of time.
